🚀 Getting started
After downloading and creating your account, you'll be guided through a short onboarding walkthrough. You'll then be prompted to choose your interests (what you're passionate about) and a subject focus (what you want to learn). From there, just tap the camera icon on the Scan & Learn tab and point it at anything — a book, an article, a sign — and Subjectly will generate a personalised lesson.
Yes — Subjectly is free to download and comes with starter credits to try all the features. Credits are used for AI-powered actions like scans, quizzes, and podcast generation. You can purchase additional credits or upgrade to Subjectly Premium for unlimited access.
Subjectly is available on iPhone (iOS 16+) and Android devices (Android 10+). Download it from the App Store or Google Play.
📷 Scan & Learn
Almost anything with readable text — book pages, newspaper articles, museum placards, product labels, handwritten notes, printed recipes, and more. The more text on the page, the richer the lesson Subjectly can generate.
After scanning, the text is sent to our AI along with your selected interests and subject focus. The AI then crafts a lesson that connects the content of what you scanned directly to your passions — for example, if you scanned a page about the French Revolution and your interests include Philosophy and your subject focus is Economics, the lesson will draw those connections explicitly.
No. Photos you capture are sent to our AI service for processing and are not stored after the lesson is generated. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
❤️ Interests & Subjects
Yes, any time. Go to the Interests tab and update your selections. Your content will immediately reflect the changes. You can choose multiple interests and up to 2 subject focus areas.
This is intentional — keeping a tight subject focus gives the AI a clear lens to work with, which produces much more coherent and meaningful connections in your lessons. Narrower focus = deeper learning.
🎛️ Learning Depth
Learning Depth is a setting (found in Settings → Learning Depth) that tells the AI how deeply to explain things. The four presets are: Get a basic understanding, Develop critical thinking skills, Trace how ideas evolved over time, and Analyse social and economic impacts. You can also add your own custom objectives.
Yes — it shapes the AI's explanations across every feature: Scan & Learn lessons, quiz questions, and podcast scripts all adapt to your chosen depth level.
💳 Credits & Billing
Credits are consumed each time you use an AI-powered feature — a scan, quiz generation, or podcast episode. You start with free credits when you sign up. You can purchase more from the Settings screen, or upgrade to Premium for unlimited usage.
Purchased credits are generally non-refundable, except where required by applicable consumer law. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at feedback@subjectlyapp.com and we'll look into it.
Go to Settings → Credits & Billing → Manage Subscription. You can cancel at any time and you'll retain Premium access until the end of your current billing period.
👤 Account
Go to Settings → scroll to the bottom → tap Delete Account. This will permanently delete your account and all associated data. This action cannot be undone.
On the login screen, tap Forgot password? and enter your email address. You'll receive a password reset link shortly. Check your spam folder if it doesn't arrive within a few minutes.
